Laureate are a Canadian pop punk band based out of Montreal, Quebec. Founded by longtime friends Giancarlo Talarico and Erin Power, their original writing and sound was heavily influenced from having been teens during 1990's.[1] Together they produced their first demo in 2010 and soon after recruited Mike Thomassin to play drums for the band.

Career[edit]

2011 Leave a Light On EP[edit]

Their first EP entitled Leave a Light On was recorded in 2011 and produced by Juno winning producer Joseph Donovan. The EP would eventually released in 2013 through Pouzza Records.[2] Following the release of the EP, Laureate recruited Matt Garies, an energetic guitarist out of Swift Current Saskatchewan. The band has played several high-profile music festivals including Vans Warped Tour, Pouzza Fest and Rockfest and continues to tour on a regular basis around Canada and the United States.[3][4]

2017 Landmarks[edit]

Seven years after releasing their first EP, Laureate returns with a full length debut album released through Jump Start Records. [5] The album as been described as somewhere between "punk, emo, indie rock and power-pop."[6] It touches on "strained relationships, personal failures and the nagging insecurities that transcend time and place."[7]. It has been described as an album "filled cover to cover with guitar driven dynamics, catchy sing-a-longs, and dual male and female vocal duties delivered with conviction and an earnest simplicity at times and convincing spirit at others."[8]
