Laxmi Datt Sharma is an Indian businessman known as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Optimise Media Group (India), a UK based Performance Marketing Company, Founder and CEO of Shoogloo and Sirmouri, both Singapore-based Digital Marketing Groups.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Sharma was born in a village called Mandhara in District Sirmaur of Himachal Pradesh and has acquired a degree in MBA.

Career[edit]

Sharma served in Indian Army with Bengal Engineers Group initially and later joined corporate world. He served with various institutions including Amity University, Oswal Group, The Time of India Group, Deal Group Media Plc UK before entering into entrepreneurial line.[2][3]

Sharma set up Deal Group Media Plc (DGM India) in India in 2006 - the first Affiliate Marketing company in India from the UK and later launched Shoogloo Group. He later set up Optimise Media Group in India - another UK based performance marketing company and helped set up Optimise in many countries in Asia Pac.[4] After being part of DGM India as one of the founding directors, Sharma helped in launching affiliate programs of more than 200 companies including MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Ferns N Petals, FlipKart, Snapdeal, Jet Airways etc through DGM India, Shoogloo and Optimise.[5][6][7]

In 2015, John Robert Porter of iSpire acquired 50% stake in Shoogloo,[8] which was set up with Bhupinder Tomar in Singapore.[9]

Sharma through Shoogloo was involved in launching the affiliate and shopping programs of huge brands like The Times Group[10] and Jet Airways.[11]

Sharma has invested in Bollywood movies including Mantostaan, Saanjh and an upcoming movie Side A Side B. [12][13][14][15]

Sharma is a car rally driver and has won many podium positions including Maruti Suzuki Rally of Himachal and Maruti Suzuki Uttrakhand Adventure Car Rally in 2016.

Social work[edit]

Sharma is involved in much social and humanitarian work across India. He sponsored the Brazil Ultra Marathon of Sunil Sharma from Sirmaur district.[27] He also organized Blood donation camp in a civil hospital in Sirmaur district.[28] Birla School, Kalyan invited LD Sharma for annual function speech to motivate the school students.[29] He has also organized an event to remember Martyr Rotam Lal and donated a sum of RS. 21000 to Rotam Lal memorial club.[30]
