Lebanese Yacht Club

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Lebanese Yacht Club (L.Y.C.) (French: Yacht Club du Liban) is a yacht club in Lebanon, founded in 1951 in Beirut.[1]

History[edit]

The Lebanese Yacht Club (LYC) is a private yacht club for members. It is focused on the development of sailing in Lebanon through its sailing school, with a fleet of boats for members who want to participate in sailing.[2][3] The club's sailing school is recognized by the International Sailing Federation and the Lebanese Yachting Federation.[4][5][6]

It was founded in 1951 in Port of Beirut,[7]. The yacht club closed during the Lebanese Civil War, reopening in 2005.[1]

Lebanese and international sailors have participated in LYC sailing regattas throughout the years,[8] French sailor Florence Arthaud among them.[9]

Club members participated in a project in 2016 to construct a replica of an ancient Phoenician galley, aiming to revive the historical heritage of Lebanon.[10]
