Lemar is a supermarket which runs in Northern Cyprus. Lemar is one of the only supermarket chains in Northern Cyprus[1]

History[edit]

Lemar was established in August 1997 in Lefkoşa, Northern Cyprus. The chain grew to 10 stores. Then, the progress slowed down and now Lemar faces competition with other supermarkets like Tempo, Supreme and Starling.[citation needed] Fresh fruit and vegetables are sold which come from local farms.

Subsidiaries[edit]

There are a few subsidiaries which Lemar is in charge of:

Lemar Cineplex[edit]

Lemar Cineplex is a cinema company that was established in 1999. The original lounge was in Lefkoșa, however it later expanded to one more in Lefkoșa, 2 in Girne and 1 in Güzelyurt. However, one cinema in Lefkoşa and one in Girne later closed. Lemar Cineplex is the largest chains of cinemas in Northen Cyprus, even though it only has 3 cinemas. [2]

Lemar Café[edit]

The café is located within some of Lemar supermarkets and offers a range of food, snacks and hot or cold beverages. Furthermore, most produce is homemade. Lemar café is usually attached to supermarkets which do not have an in-store Burger City. [3]

Burger City[edit]

Burger City is a fast food restaurant which is usually located on the site of a Lemar Supermarket. The restaurant is based on the international Burger King fast food restaurant. Burger City also sells a similar range to Burger King, and retains similar prices - but in Turkish Lira. The interior consists mainly of plastic tables and plastic seats, with normally both interior and exterior seating.
