Leo Ress (born 16 January 1951)[1] is a German automobile engineer. Known for his long career as development manager for the Swiss racing team Sauber.
Career[edit]
After studying at RWTH Aachen University, Ress joined Daimler-Benz in 1979 and began working as an engineer.
Ress first designed Sauber sports cars in the 1980s until he joined the Swiss stable's F1 project. Ress was responsible for the design of Sauber's F1 cars until early 2000, when he was ousted by Willy Rampf. However, Ress continued to lead Sauber's research and development unit.
