The technology, framework and hosting
Lienion is a cloud based software solution currently to be used on desktops and laptops. The application is developed in PHP, making use of the Drupal framework and a MySQL database. The application is hosted on Amazon AWS. As it is cloud based, it means that its users can access Lienion on every location with an internet connection.
Description[edit]
There are currently 6 applications (apps) available in the Lienion suite: Shoution, Todosion, Releasion, Tempion, Sequencion and Testcasion. Companies and users can use the entire suite of 6 applications or decide to use a specific app. Lienion has centrally managed access rights and allows companies to implement (optionally) their hierarchical structure for managing the access rights for each user based on their role in the company.
Also, Lienion launched a free social media training program for schools called LSMTP[1]. Through education, they can train kids early on how to properly use social media. This training program is 100 percent free and includes access to a real social network environment. The network is only accessible by kids and is guided by their teachers and parents.
Applications[edit]
Every application has different objectives and a different focus, but can be used in a combined way. Here is a brief explanation of the functionality of each Lienion app.
Shoution[edit]
Shoution is the (internal) communication application of Lienion. It is like a social network for companies where everyone in the company can post messages, give feedback, share news, share documents, share pictures, … called ‘shouts’. Shoution is intended to increase collaboration within a company but also with suppliers and partners. Collaboration and communication can be established in teams, with groups (several teams) or with individual persons. As users can also share documents, images, picture albums and video links (YouTube and Vimeo), Shoution comes with a light version of a document sharing platform. To stimulate collaboration users can also launch polls, quizzes and team competitions.
Todosion[edit]
Todosion is the task management application of Lienion. A task is called a ‘todo’ and users can create, manage and follow up todos. Todosion offers three todo creation options:
- A normal todo, accessible by everyone in the team or project,
- A personal todo, accessible by the creator and his team or project lead/responsible and
- Private todos, only accessible by the creator.
While creating a todo, a user can add a description, a deadline, define the priority, the category, the status, link it to other todos (parent - brother/sister todos) and assign it to one or multiple persons within a team/project/group. Also recurrent todos can be created. For Agile projects the weight of the todo (story) can be added.
Todos can be accessed in different views like e.g. a basic list or an integrated calendar. Users can also add todos assigned to them to their personal planning. Every action related to the todo is 100% traceable and a version control system is implemented. Because of its functionalities, Todosion is also used as a bug tracking / issue tracking system.
Releasion[edit]
Releasion is the project management app of Lienion. Users can organize their projects making use of the Agile or waterfall methodology. It is possible to create sprints and to maintain a backlog. Todos, tasks, stories, … of the projects can be managed and accessed on a [[Scrum (software development)|scrum board] or in a list view. Reports give access to [[Burn down chart|burn down charts], pie charts, bar charts etc.
Tempion[edit]
In Tempion users can create and manage timesheets. When using Tempion in combination with Todosion/Releasion, items added to the timesheets can be linked to a todo and/or a release. Companies can add national holidays and company closures to Tempion and inform employees, partners and users via Shoution. Tempion also includes a holiday requests process where employees can request leaves and holidays.
Sequencion[edit]
Sequencion is the Lienion app to standardize and manage company processes and repetitive tasks. Users can put company processes and/or repetitive tasks in so called ‘sequences’ which are actually check lists with all the steps to complete the company process or task. Validators can be defined for each step of a sequence. A simple example: a company is specialised in installing air conditioning systems. They can create for each type they install a sequence. While installing the sequence can be followed and each step can be validated.
Testcasion[edit]
Testcasion is the app of Lienion in which users can write and manage test cases and test suites. When using Todosion test cases can be linked to a todo.
