Jack Benfield[1] (born 20 June 2005), professionally known as Lil Man J is an American rapper and musician.[2][3][4][5][6][7] He is better known for his 2022 single "Cap Freestyle" and as the young rapper who sounds exactly as the renowned rapper and singer Lil Baby.[3][2][4][8][5][6][9][7][1]
Early life
Benfield was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. He was raised alongside his brother JJ Benfield and his sister in Clover, South Carolina, USA.[10] Lil Man J attended Macintyre High School. He later went at JMC Academy to study music performance and songwriting in 2015 to 2017.[3][10]
Career
At the age of ten, Lil Man J discovered his passion in content creation industry, where he began sharing his homemade videos on the Musical.ly the platform that is now recognized as TikTok.[11][10] His singing impersonations, comedy sketches and overall playful spirit quickly gained traction among early followers.[12]
In 2018, Lil's TikTok fanbase was growing rapidly as his humorous videps went viral .He capitalized on popular trends like the 'Mmm Whatcha Say' and renegade dance challenge, to expand his audience month after month.
At age thirteen, He started recording music with his earbud wires and Garageband app on his phone, he later realized that the quality of his music wasn't good for success in the industry.[10]
To pursue his dreams, Lil Man J started working as a car detailer at the age of fifteen to save up money for his music career.
