Lisa Mandelblatt is an American lawyer and educator based in New Jersey running as a Democrat for Congress in New Jersey's 7th congressional district.[4][5][6][7][8] According to several sources, her campaign raised $258,600 in two months,[9][10][11][12] and in October 2017 is leading the democratic contenders in terms of campaign cash.[13] She is a teacher and community activist and former criminal defense lawyer.[1][14][7] In terms of her positions, she advocates maintaining state and local and property tax deductions in the federal tax code,[15] as well as common sense gun control legislation.[16] She marched in protest against Donald Trump at the 2017 Women's March in Washington, D.C.[17] In DailyKos, she criticized Trump's voter fraud commission as an attempt at voter suppression.[18] According to ABC News, Mandelblatt was inspired to run for Congress while participating in the 2017 Women's March along with Lacey Rzeszowski.[19][20][21]
