July 22, 2013 Starvation and dehydration Geraldine Largay 66 years Largay had hiked about 1,000 miles and was supposed to go 200 more on the Appalachian trail but she got disoriented and wandered off the trail. She got lost and couldn't find her way back. She set up camp and lived there for several weeks before she ran out of supplies and died in Redington Township, Maine. Her remains were found in October 2015.[1][2]

June 15, 2012 Drowning Paul Anthony Bernhardt 20 years Bernhardt was swimming in Pierce Pond in Bowman Township, Maine. He went underwater and never came back up. [5][6]
