The Lobster 12.5 is a 12.5 foot (4.23 meter) long wooden boat class with a round bilged hull, which is partially covered with a deck. The boats can be sailed with gunter rig or driven as rowboats. A motorization with an outboard motor is possible via integral corf. The appearance of the Lobster 12.5 resembles traditional Dutch sloops, which were used for fishing near the coast in the 19th century. The wooden hull is carried out using a contemporary stitch and glue process based on epoxy resin. This structure is a kind of monocoque arrangement, built by sandwiching a thin fiber-reinforced skin over a lightweight core of angouma wood.
The boat was developed by the Dutch shipyard Linnartz Houten Bootenbouw[1] and built from 2007 to 2016. It was usually sold as a kit and built by the owner himself.
