Lock Stock and Barrel Records

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lock Stock and Barrel Records (LSB) are a UK-based independent record label owned by Catherine Feeney, Nikki Lamborn and Terence Disdale

Background[edit]

The label was set up in 2001, initially as a vehicle for Catherine and Nikki's own band Never The Bride, after shunning the major labels and choosing to self-release several successful albums. The first release, a collection of demos entitled While U Wait Vol. 1 and later moving on to Surprise and Licensed To Bitch selling direct to their diverse international fan base whilst retaining full artistic control over what they release.

In September 2004 they recorded a concert at ULU, released as a CD album Live At ULU and a DVD For Richer For Poorer - Live And On The Road which also included revealing and often hilarious documentary footage from the European tour earlier the same year.

In 2005, after hearing Never The Bride's recording of song The Living Tree, Welsh singing superstar Dame Shirley Bassey fell in love with it and Catherine and Nikki suggested that she record it. The single The Living Tree became a top 40 hit in UK Singles Chart, breaking chart records. LSB went on to record and produce Bassey's acclaimed album Get The Party Started and masterminded her memorable appearance at Glastonbury Festival in June 2007, which helped the album debut at number 6 in the UK Album Chart.

International Licensing[edit]

In 2008, due to the success of the digital download of the single "Get the Party Started" by Chris Cox, which climbed to number 3 on the Billboard Dance Chart, Get The Party Started was released officially in the United States after signing an international licensing deal with Decca Records label, making it the first Shirley Bassey album to be officially released in USA by Bassey after a long absence.

In 2009 a Never The Bride CD album was released Vancouver 97, recorded in 1997 while signed to Universal Music. A disagreement with the label resulted in a long delay in acquiring the rights to release. The album was rescued from the vaults of The Armoury where it was recorded with legendary producer Bruce Fairbairn. Additional musicians on the album were Doug Boyle on guitars, Trevor Barry on Bass, Frosty Beadle on Drums and additional programming and keyboards from Canadian, John Webster.

In 2012 they released a new Never The Bride DVD and CD package In Concert At The Stables Theatre, recorded live in 2010 at The Stables in Milton Keynes.
