Richard "Richie" Ruperto (born October 27, 1988 in Spanish Harlem, New York), known by his stage name, Loco Ninja, is a gay rapper and activist.

Ruperto was initially a member of the dance troupe, Project Valentine, when in 2008 he appeared as a guest on The Tyra Banks Show, on the episode, "Gays in the Hood,[1]" where he described the struggles of growing up gay in Spanish Harlem, and was paid a visit at his own home, by Tyra Banks, because she was "touched" by his story. Banks introduced the shy 19-year-old "Richie" Ruperto, who grew up near Madison Avenue and East 109th Street,[2], to an open and accepting house of gays and allies from "the ball" scene.[3]" Two years later, Ruperto dubbed himself Loco Ninja on the hip-hop scene as an activist for gay men of color, and a gay rap recording artist[4] with his first mixtape, 2010's Kunt Money/PV Presents: No Shade, which sampled the likes of Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott and fellow New York rapper, Nicki Minaj. That same year, Ruperto was featured alongside Adonis Melendez in a campaign hosted by the Gay Men’s Health Crisis called "I Love My Boo," where Ruperto was displayed kissing Melendez on the forehead. The poster was displayed in New York subways to help promote acceptance of young gay Black and Latino men. Five years later, it was vandalised.[5]

In 2011, Loco Ninja released the EP, Locophobia, and full-length mixtape, Flame On (which featured his single, "Animal Crackers" that sampled the late-Golden Hollywood starlet, Shirley Temple), So Close, But So Far was released the following year in 2012. 2013's Misfit, which included "I'm In Love" where R&B Singer/Rapper, Lumidee and Carmen Beretta were featured guests[6], was released in 2013. The music video won NewNowNext Awards "Next Best Music Video" contest.[7] The award-winning song was featured in a "hits"-like EP, Bring It Back in that same year. In 2015 he released the mixtape Combat Kween; and that same year, he also headlined Hartford Gay Pride[8] and had a featured song, "Lisa Turtle" in the series, EastSiders. By this time he had gained a fanbase in English and Spanish-speaking communities[9]. In 2016 he released Clueless, inspired by the 1995 romantic comedy, Clueless, and was also featured on the November cover of The Selfied Magazine that same year.[10]

His latest release, Beach House which is accompanied by a single with the same title was released via-Soundcloud.
