Lorenzo Tartamella (Born, 1962) is an entrepreneur, best known for being the President & CEO of TimesSquare.com; the namesake portal of Times Square in New York City. Tartamella is the CEO of the iDataware Corporation, a Media holdings company. He is also a journalist and interviewer.

Early life[edit]

Tartamella is the son of the late Salvatore (Sam) Tartamella, born in Sicily, an Electronic Engineer and Santina Di Genova born in Campobasso, Casacalenda, Italy. He credits much of his success to his childhood memories growing up as a Boy Scout and learning the value of leadership roles and spending much of his young childhood with his Dad.

1980 to 1985

Aged 18, the same summer he graduated from an electronic engineering, Tartamella flew to Asia, where he was welcomed in Countries like China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, and Malaysia. He quickly established strong partnerships with the Asian communities and began to manufacture, import and distribute technology products and accessories. His strength was in people and establishing strong base of trust with suppliers. His secret was in owning the actual physical plastic molds and create the patents for those molds which would later be sold around the world. Suppliers enjoyed working with Tartamella because he always brought a true sense of value in helping to determine the success or failure of a product. During the early days of Mass Merchandising, Tartamella was fortunate in seeing the growth strategies which were used by companies such as Walmart and Carrefour.

Copam Electronic Industries[edit]

In October 1985 he teamed up with COPAM Electronic Industries of Taiwan. This was one of his first successful business ventures. He later sold COPAM in 1987 to focus on the business of accessories in various other niches like Toys, Paper products, however specialty electronic and computer accessories were the focus of his work. Most competitors feared his marketing skills as he was able to work at extremely low and risky profit margins.

CAPS Computer Accessories Plus[edit]

Tartamella founded Computer Accessories Plus in 1987 with long time friend and competitor Morty Berger. Tartamella remains grateful to Berger as one of the best partnerships he ever experienced and learned the art of giving graciously. It was during this period of his life where he learned the trades of assembly and manufacturing techniques which he still uses today to create some unique opportunities in various fields. His first invention was a machine that was able to format diskettes which would later prove to be so successful that a Taiwanese Company; Anchen Corporation exchanged the rights for a discount allowing his Company to have an exclusive position in North America for 5 years. His many cobrands included Tartam, which featured a logo of an alligator, a logo he designed himself. He in fact became known as Mr. TarTam whenever he traveled the world, especially in Asia, where he conducted most of his business. He was officially referred to as the “King of Diskettes” by his many global partners and affiliates. Partnerships included Dysan, Kodak, Verbatim, Wabash, Epson, Roland, Newell, Rubbermaid, and other fine Brands and Companies.

TimesSquare.com[edit]

Times Square, www.timessquare.com website was the first and original product online to cover news related to the district. It has since evolved into a staff of more than 50 editors, writers, photographers, researchers, and more. On April 13, 2008, Tartamella Joined Founder and former publisher at the " crossroads of the world," in New York City. Times Square was officially recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the world’s most popular brands in the world and tourist destination; TimesSquare.com. Long considered a beacon of glamour and culture as well an iconic and symbolic landmark; creating Times Square’s equivalent for web surfers is now the latest project which is personally being overseen by Tartamella. His first project as head of TimesSquare.com was becoming the first website to stream the New Year Celebrations from Times Square on New Year's Eve 2008 .[1]

In February 2012, The TimesSquare.com Corporation launched Times Square Magazine.[2]

In May 2012, The TimesSquare.com Corporation launched the first annual Times Square Logo Competition on DesignCrowd.com.[3][4]

The 2012 TimesSquare.com logo contest received 5717 entries, making it one of the largest logo competitions in the world.[5] Tartamella has confirmed a second annual TimesSquare.com logo competition which will take place in 2013.[6][7]

The winner of the 2012 TimesSquare.com logo competition was announced on December 12, 2012.[8] The winner was the designer Jovan from Serbia. The announcement was made by Tartamella and Charles Fazzino, President of the Jury for the first annual contest.

In June 2012, Tartamella announced in New York city that it will be launching its new 360 website and officially bring a live look and feel to the world. Over 50 000 photographs and 15 000 panels were built and the construction of this mega portal is scheduled to be open to the world on line as early as October 2012.

The TimesSquare.com Corporation has released details about a web series called New York Wisdom. Tartamella is the Executive Producer, Producer, and interviewer behind the series which is set to debut in the fall of 2013. New York Wisdom includes interviews with the most iconic New Yorkers of the past 50 years, men and women who have shaped the world of politics, entertainment, and sports.

Dataware[edit]

In 1991, Lorenzo Tartamella purchased the Dataware ® brand from the Rubbermaid Corporation ( Newell ). The Dataware brand was already established and distributed in a network which spanned to more than 29 countries.

In 2013, The Dataware Corporation is once again under a grand restructuring plan and re-branding itself as iDataware ®, Tartamella says that at almost 50, he is busy building a global Media holdings company with interests in the Internet, Music, and Film industries. Its primary function will be to develop original content and packaged content for main stream media to purchase. There is a lack of quality content available and Tartamella plans to mainstream the way media evaluates content and quality.

IDataware® has offices and staff in key cities around the world, including New York City, Montreal, St. Louis, LA, Bangalore, and Paris.

Film Division

The Dataware film library contains over 10,000 movies and television shows in every genre imaginable, from horror, to westerns, to children and romantic comedies. Via platforms such as FullMovies.com, VintageChannel.com, and several other platforms, members may access the full library and stream these films directly from their home computer or mobile device.

Magazines & Books Division

Dataware’s publishing division is separated into two avenues; Magazines and Books. Dataware magazine titles include Times Square Magazine, F1 Traveler, Sports Photography Monthly, Vintage Channel Magazine, and Marketing Bull.

Portals & Forums Division

Dataware owns and operates portals such as TimesSquare.com, Marketing.ca, MyOldRadio.com, AdsMuseum.com. Dataware also owns and operates many high traffic web forums which include TeenageWriters.com, DJTalks.com, NetworkTemple.com, and about a dozen other forums.
