Lorien McKenna is an American screenwriter, and producer for film and television.
Early life[edit]
McKenna grew up in northern California and attended Saint Mary's College of California, receiving a BA in English Literature and Performing Arts and an MFA in Playwriting.[1]
Career[edit]
Lorien McKenna is a former Pixar story manager who worked on such features as UP, BRAVE, INSIDE OUT, and THE GOOD DINOSAUR. Most recently, she was the showrunner on TAB TIME, an upcoming ½ hour YouTube series produced by Kids At Play. Previously, Lorien has sold projects to Hulu/Rideback and NBC/WBTV. Lorien also wrote HOW TO SET A FIRE AND WHY, based on the book of the same name by Jesse Ball, for Straight Up Films. Previously, she served as the Co-EP for Hulu's CURIOUS GEORGE series, and has developed projects for Disney Jr., Funko, and Netflix, as well as served as a producer for Paramount Animation where she oversaw development for WONDER PARK. Lorien started her career as a playwright in the Bay Area where she founded Guilty Theater, and taught playwriting, Shakespeare, and theater at St. Mary’s College of California.
Podcast[edit]
Lorien McKenna co-hosts a Podcast, The Screenwriting Life w/ Meg LeFauve and Lorien McKenna.[2] The show, co-hosted by writer Meg LeFauve and producer Jeffrey Crane Graham, is dedicated to unpacking both the craft and artistic journey of pursuing a career in screenwriting. Featured guests include Ed Solomon, Anne Lamott, Mike Jones, and Bonnie Curtis, among others.
The show was cited as one of Feedspot's Top 25 Screenwriting Podcasts You Must Follow in 2021,[3] and FilmCon's Top 10 Recommended Filmmaking Podcasts.[4]
