Los Beats
Los Beats is a musical group from El Salvador.[1] The band consists of five members.
History
Los Beats was created as an imitation of British group The Beatles. Angel Gutierrez was one of the band's original members, Jose Montoya joined the band a couple of years later.[2]. According to the internet site, ElSalvador.com, the group was named "The Beats" as a way of leading the Salvadorean public to know them as the "Salvadorean Beatles". Through their history, Los Beats had a number of hits in Central and South America, with songs like "Amame" ("Love Me"),[3] "Me estas Amando" ("You Are Loving Me"),[4] and "(Because) Porque".[4]
The band still performs occasionally.
In pop culture
The band was one of a number of groups featured in the 2012 American documentary "Buenas epocas de la nueva ola de El Salvador" ("Good Times of the New Wave Era in El Salvador") which was shown around Washington, D.C. area theaters that year.[5]
