Mohamed Lotfi Mraïhi (Arabic: محمد لطفي المرايحي; born 16 November 1959) is a Tunisian doctor and founder and secretary general of the People’s Republican Union Party.[1]

Early life[edit]

Mraïhi was born in Haïdra.

Medical career[edit]

He formerly worked as a pulmonologist and allergist.[2]

Political career[edit]

He founded the Republican People's Union in 2011.[3]

He was a candidate in the 2019 presidential election.[4] He came seventh with 6.56% of the vote.[5] A month later, he lead his party into the parliamentary election in which they won 3 seats in the Assembly of the Representatives of the People.[6][not in citation given]

Personal life[edit]

He is the father of musician brothers Amine and Hamza.[3]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he tested positive for the virus but did recover.[7]
