Lou Lentine (born 1971) is an American businessman and inventor from Chattanooga, Tennessee. He holds over 100 patents.
Personal life[edit]
Lentine was born in 1971 in New Jersey and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida in 1993 where he majored in marketing.[1][2] Lentine also mentors other inventors, particularly those at the University of Central Florida and those who work with HSN and QVC.[1]
As a child, Lentine vacationed on the Abaco Islands and purchased a home there in the mid-2010s.[3] With his wife, Kelli, he has three sons.[1]
Career[edit]
As of 2019[update], Lentine is the president and founder of Viatek Consumer Products Group and a self-described "serial entrepreneur at heart."[1] He holds more than 100 patents.[1] Viatek owns a number of brands, including Night Stars, Hurricane and Mighty Jump, and Q-Beam flashlights.[1] In 2011, Lentine moved Viatek to the Bonny Oaks Industrial and Office Park Chattanooga, Tennessee.[1]
In 1992, while still a college student, Lentine began developing and inventing products.[1] He promoted his first product on television in 1996, at the age of 25, while wearing fake glasses in an effort to look older.[1] He has since promoted his products on HSN, the Shopping Channel Canada, QVC, USA, QVC UK, QVC Germany, and Shop TV Japan.[1] By the time he was 30 years old, Lentine owned a $30 million consumer products business.[2]
In 2015, Lentine founded Echelon Fitness in collaboration with the University of Central Florida's Business Incubation Program and at their Central Florida Research Park.[2][4][1][5] The company, which produces home fitness equipment, is designed to be an entertainment platform as much as a fitness platform, having signed deals with Pitbull and Joey Fatone to collaborate on content for the company.[6] Pitbull is also an investor.[6]
He is also a part of Quirky.com and manages the platform's sales out of Viatek's office.[1]
