Luke Charters-Reid
Luke Charters-Reid is a British politician selected as the Labour candidate for York Outer in the 2017 UK General Election. At 21 years old, he is one of the party's youngest ever candidates, having been involved in politics since the age of 14.[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Currently living in Osbaldwick, he has lived around the constituency of York Outer his whole life.[citation needed] He attended Huntington School, and went on to study philosophy, politics and economics at Mansfield College, University of Oxford.[2][3] Additionally, between his studies at Oxford, he continued to work as a director for Charters-Reid Surveyors Ltd.[4]
Political career[edit]
Charters-Reid took up political campaigning aged 14 and helped the York Outer Labour candidates in 2010 and 2015.[2] After joining the Labour Party at age 15, he attended the 2010 Labour party conference, during which he gave a speech and introduced Ed Milliband to the stage for a Q&A session.[5][6]
He is the Labour prospective parliamentary candidate for York Outer in the 2017 UK General Election, running against incumbent Julian Sturdy in a constituency held by the Conservatives since its creation in 2010.
