Lukuta Malcolm Munyaza (born 30 March 1989), is a Namibian author and entrepreneur. Known for his book Zambezi Names and Definitions (2021) where he defined and explained the origins of the names of Zambezi people. This made him the first Namibian author to do so.

Early Life[edit]

Munyaza was born on 30 March 1989 in Katima Mulilo to Munukayumbwa Desmond Munyaza and Muukwa Selina Munyaza. When he was of age he moved with his mother and sister Ivy Munyaza to Uis where started school at Brandberg Primary School]. In 1997, he moved to Grootfontein where he attended St. Isidor Primary School from grade 3 to 5. He again moved to a new primary school to complete grade 6 and 7 at renownedWilhelm Nortier Primary School. In 2002, his father passed away. He graduated from Grootfontein Secondary School in 2006. He later enrolled at the University of Namibia.

Career[edit]

Young Tycoon Media and Soundtrack[edit]

In 2012 Munyaza started his entrepreneurial career when he established his multimedia company Young Tycoon Media where he launched the clothing line Young Tycoon Clothing.[1] With the clothing line he released his first single 'Young Tycoon Soundtrack' (2012) to promote the clothing line and it received positive reviews.[2] The song features Jeiyo, TheFutureIsGiggz, AB Pro and Malawian rapper Lusungu Jonazi. This was a first in Namibia to produce a song to promote a clothing line.

Social Media Management, TheFutureIsGiggz, Tulisan, Adora and PhredGot1[edit]

After the success of the clothing line and soundtrack, Munyaza started doing Social media marketing for hip hop artist TheFutureIsGiggz, Kwaito artist Tulisan and NAMA award winning Afro Pop artist Adora.

In February 2018, Munyaza took over as Brand Manager of Namibian rapper and \ Ndondi Kandjembe (formerly known as PhredGot1) and released the artist's highly anticipated debut album 'No Validation'.[3] He also briefly did brand management for hip hop artists NandoHomie and Ivory.

Entertainment Industry Pundit Podcast[edit]

In December 2016, together with AB Pro he started a podcast called 'Entertainment Industry Pundit' where he would do album reviews.[4] It ran for 1 season and generally received mixed reviews seeing that it was done at a time when podcasts were not popular yet.

2020: Namibian Sun newspaper, Unwrap and ViralCom[edit]

In 2020, Munyaza was brought on board by AB Pro as the Content Manager of Namibia's music store ViralCom.[5] He also worked as a writer for Namibia's leading online magazine, Unwrap and for the Namibian Sun newspaper.[6][7][8]

2021: Zambezi Names and Definitions[edit]

Munyaza started writing his book 'Zambezi Names and Definitions' in 2019 after his now wife Alda Munyaza asked him for the meanings of the names he wanted to name their future children but was unable to do so. After searching online and asking elders, he realised that there was little to no literature online about the origins of Zambezi people's names or their meanings. The frustration pushed him to start extensive research to solve this colossal problem. In November 2020, he completed the book and self-published it online as an Ebook. This was a first in Namibia because there hasn't been a book that defines names of the Zambezi people - the Subia, Fwe, Mbalangwe, Totela, Yeyi and Lozi.[9] Zambezi Names And Definitions

Wikipedians do a wide variety of tasks, from fixing typos and removing vandalism to resolving disputes and perfecting content, but are united in a desire to make human knowledge available to every person on the planet.
