MSEMT

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

MSEMT[1] stands for Modelica Simulator of Electromagnetic Transients. This is a is an Modelica-based library including EMT-detailed models of power electric systems. This is a stand-alone library that can be used by power systems engineers to analyze electromagnetic transients (known as EMT-type simulations).[2] The main available models currently include the Transmission line models [3] (wideband, constant parameter, and PI section), synchronous machines, static loads, RLC branches, power transformers, controllers, and many other linear and nonlinear models. The available models are validated with Emtp. The library has been validated through the simulation of IEEE 39-bus and IEEE 118-bus benchmarks [4]. The library can be used with open-source and commercial Modelica compilers such as OpenModelica and Dymola. The main advantages of this library are that the library has been constructed based on an equation-based Object-oriented programming approach as opposed to the previous work, which is mainly based on imperative languages such as C and Fortran. Although the simulator currently has a slower simulation time compared to the classical EMT-simulation tools, it offers dramatic readability and efficiency to modeling.

The library is developed in the framework of an industrial chair-funded project in Polytechnique Montréal. The project is supervised by Jean Mahseredjian.
