Malik Basintale (born 7 January 1993) is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He currently serves as the Deputy National Communication Officer of the party.[1][2]

Early life

Basintale was born in Tamale and began his education at Tamale International School. He proceeded to Prempeh College in Kumasi for his secondary education. He later pursued a degree in Banking and Finance at the University of Ghana.[3]

Political career

Basintale's journey in politics began at the regional level, where he was elected Deputy Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region of Ghana in 2018. During the regional executive elections, he garnered 270 votes, cementing his position within the party's communication structure.[4]

On December 17, 2022, Basintale rose to national prominence when he was elected as the Deputy National Communication Officer of the NDC. The election, held at the Accra Sports Stadium, saw him secure 3,388 votes during the party’s national congress.[5]

As Deputy National Communication Officer, Basintale became a prominent figure in the NDC's communication strategy. He played a critical role as a spokesperson, articulating party policies and serving as a strong critic of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). His statements and appearances on television and radio gained national attention, establishing him as a leading voice among the youth of the NDC during the election period.[6][7]

In the 2024 Ghanaian general election, Basintale played a significant role in the campaign, contributing to the re-election of the NDC into government. His work in media debates and public discourse solidified his reputation as a key communicator for the party.[6][7]
