Mammad Aslan oghlu Abbasbayli (Azerbaijani: Məmməd Abbasbəyli Aslan oğlu born 17 May 1975) is the current Head of State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control of the Republic of Azerbaijan (since 23 December 2021),[1] Member of the Supervisory Board of the "Baku Metro" Closed Joint-Stock Company (2021-present), Deputy Head of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy (2020-2021), Member of Supervisory Board of the Entrepreneurship Development Fund (2020-present), President of the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation (2016-2019), Member of the Board of Trustees of the Faculty of Business at ADA University and co-chair of the Board Committee (2013-2014), Full member of the New York Bar (since 2000).

Life and education[edit]

Born on May 17, 1975, in the city of Ganja.

From 1992-1997, he graduated from Khazar University with a degree in International Relations [2] and Baku State University with a degree in Law.

In 1999, he got a degree in the history of US foreign policy from Purdue University. In 2000, he got a master's degree in law from George Washington University. [3]

He has been a full member of the New York State Bar Association since 2000. [4]

Career[edit]

He started his career in 2000 at the law firm "Salans Hertzfeld & Heilbronn" in New York, USA, and until 2003, worked in the company's Baku office.

From 2004 to 2008, he worked as a lawyer, head of the legal department, and general manager at a number of major foreign industrial and investment corporations, including "Azpetrol International Holdings B.V.", "EUPEC Pipe-Coatings LLC" and "BP Group".

From 2009–2014, he served as CEO of "CRA Group", an asset management company in Azerbaijan. At the same time, he was a member, co-chair, and chairman of the boards of directors of mobile and fixed communications and telecommunications companies; foreign gold and non-ferrous metal mining companies; oil and gas; and large construction companies.

In 2013-2014, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Faculty of Business at ADA University and co-chair of the Board Committee.

In 2016, he was elected President of the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation. [5] [6]

In 2019-2020, he worked as an adviser to the Minister of Economy.

In 2020, he was put on the Board of Appeals of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Supervisory Board of the Entrepreneurship Development Fund of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

He was named Deputy Head of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan by an order from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 8, 2020. [7]

He was made a member of the Supervisory Board of the "Baku Metro" Closed Joint-Stock Company by an order from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 30, 2021. [8] [9] [10]

He was put in charge of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan by an order from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 23, 2021. [11] [12]
