Marcus Kolga is a Canadian human rights advocate.[1], journalist[2] and documentary filmmaker[3]. He is a Senior Fellow at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute Centre for Advancing Canadian Interests Abroad[4] and the CDA Institute[5]. He is the founder and director of DisinfoWatch.org, a platform dedicated to monitoring and analyzing foreign disinformation targeting Canada and its allies.[6] He is a frequent commentator on foreign interference, Russia[7] and Central and Eastern European issues in Canadian national media.

Kolga led the civil society campaign for Canadian Magnitsky legislation.[8] The legislation is named in honour of Russian whistle blower, Sergei Magnitsky, and places visa bans and asset freezes on international officials who abuse human rights, and passed unanimously on October 18, 2017[9]

In 2020 The Estonian Interior Ministry announced that Kolga would receive an award for his leadership as a founder of the Global Estonian movement but refused to accept the award[10], citing conflicting principles[11] with then Minister, Mart Helme, of the populist Conservative People's Party of Estonia.

In 2015, Kolga was awarded the Estonian Order of the White Star[12] by President Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

Kolga was named a recipient of the 2017 Magitsky Human Rights award.[13]
