Marketing For Manufacturers was written in 2016 by Carl Jarvis and published in April 2017.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Scope[edit]

Having spent 20 years working with manufacturers, Carl wrote a marketing book specifically for SME (small to mid-size) manufacturers, along with being one of only a few marketing books written for this specific industry, to help business owner/managers liberate their marketing and to ensure their business grows, thrives, and succeeds at its best. To ensure this happens, the content marketing strategist made it his goal to pull back the curtain on some uncomfortable marketing practices, key observations, and practical insights, that once made aware of, will inspire SME manufacturers to value the importance of marketing at a whole new level.[7][8]

Having originally qualified as an apprenticeship served mechanical and production engineer (in the mid 1980’s) Carl moved in to the more commercial side of manufacturing, building his career through engineering sales management, then progressing in to his current role as an independent senior marketing advisor to manufacturers under £10m.[9][10][11][12]

Author[edit]

Carl began his career as an engineer, undertaking a five year on-the-job and day-release Technical Apprenticeship in Mechanical & Production Engineering for packaging and bottle top manufacturer Metal Closures Ltd in West Bromwich, UK. He worked on special purpose machines and press tool design. In 1987, he left and moved in to the commercial side of business as a Cost Proposals Engineer, then Internal Sales Engineer, External Sales Engineer, Senior Sales Engineer, Sales Manager and National Sales Manager within the pneumatics and hydraulics industry before setting up in business for himself in 1999 as a Consultant Internet and Marketing Professional.[1][10]

Between 1994 to 1996 he studied part time in the evening at Staffordshire University gaining a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Business & Finance, with a Marketing Major.[1]

Since 1999, Carl has been consulting for small to mid-size (SME) businesses under £10 million turnover and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.[1][13][14]

Between 2010 to 2012, Carl was the Co-Founder, Marketing Director and Franchisor of Concentric Lettings Ltd, a residential Lettings and Property Management Franchise. As a copywriter, since the year 2000, Carl has been credited with authorship and publication of numerous articles in different publications; online and offline.[1][12][15][16][17]

In 2005, he successfully wrote the script for, produced, and built a team of 3D animators, story boarders, graphic designers, and voice over artists to produce a 3D CGI Animated Interactive DVD-Rom Game for the University of Wolverhampton, called ‘Going Place With Languages’. This was in French, Spanish and German languages, which was distributed across the UK schools/education sector.[18][1]

He is also notable as a speaker for delivering numerous Worldwide Marketing[19] and Internet Marketing related seminars, workshops, and master-classes directly to SME Business Owners and on behalf of various major public sector bodies, business/trade associations, and commercial organisations.[1][2]
