Marlabs Inc., also known as Marlabs, is an information technology company, headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey, USA, providing information technology and process outsourcing services across several industries worldwide.[1]

History[edit]

Marlabs was founded in 1996, by SIby Vadakekkara and Srinivasan Balram, in the United States of America. It is headquartered in Piscataway, NJ.

Through the early 2000s, the company opened offices in India and Canada. In 2010, they opened an office in Mexico. In 2013, Marlabs announced its entry into the legal process outsourcing business, with a dedicated center in Bangalore.[4]

Around June 2015, Marlabs rebranded to highlight a new company tagline - Driving Digital Agility, to represent the company's exploration and innovation in next generation technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, design experience, and more.[5]

In July 2015, in line with their new corporate identity, Marlabs acquired a stake in Extentor Tquila, also known as ET - a Salesforce partner, to improve the company's abilities with in salesforce consulting and integration.[6] The business arm was rebranded to ET Marlabs.[7][8]

During 2015, the company was also appraised at CMMI Level 5, or the Capability Maturity Model Integration, which is used to identify companies capable of analyzing innovation and new technologies intended to optimize current industry trends and processes.[9]

In 2018, they opened an IoT Innovation Center in Kochi, India with an initiative to hire two hundred IT professionals.[10] This added to the company's three development centers in Bangalore[11], Kochi, Pune, and Mysore.

Awards & Recognition[edit]

In 2005, NJBiz identified Marlabs as the second fastest growing private company in New Jersey via The New Jersey's Finest program, designed to highlight the fifty fastest growing companies in the state.[12] Around this time, Marlabs was also recognized as one of the best places to work at in New Jersey.[13][14]

In 2010, Marlabs ranked within CRN's VAR 500. The award highlights the best digital technology solution provider organizations in North America, and ranks them according to revenue.[15]

In 2012, the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) identified Marlabs as a Common Security Framework (CSF) Assessor. The status allows the company to perform assessment and other services related to the CSF, which happens to be the most widely used and accepted security framework in the healthcare industry.[16] Marlabs also placed once more within the fifty best places to work at in New Jersey around this time, a feat which is achieved again in 2013 for its second consecutive award in the category.[17][18]

Between 2012 and 2018, Marlabs has also consistently ranked within the CRN Top Solution Provider 500.[19]

In 2014, CIO Review recognized Marlabs among the 20 Most Promising Cloud Computing Companies.[20]

In 2018, NASSCOM recognized Marlabs for their innovation in artificial intelligence in the NASSCOM AI Game Changer Awards.[21] The jury chose Marlabs' AI & Cognitive Platform - mAdvisor for the "Best 50 Innovative Applications of AI Solutions" category.[22][23] In August, Forrester Research released a report titled - Top Emerging Technologies to Watch, 2018, which featured Marlabs as a leader in the sphere of natural language generation (NLG).[24]

Controversy[edit]

In September, 2010, Sandeep R. Ramakapeta filed a class action complaint against Marlabs in the New Jersey District Court. For all defendants involved, Ramakapeta cited seven counts as causes for action. But in December, the plaintiff filed for a notice of voluntary dismissal with prejudice against all defendants. It was signed and closed by Judge Dennis M. Cavanaugh.[25][26]
