Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a series of American superhero films produced by Marvel Studios based on characters that appear in publications by Marvel Comics.
History[edit]
In 2014, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that Marvel has storylines for the Marvel Cinematic Universe planned throught 2028, [1] which resulted in many projects "on the docket that are completely different from anything that's come before — intentionally".[2]
In 2019, during the San Diego Comic-Con, during which Feige revealed several films and television series to be in development for the MCU's fourth phase, Feige revealed that several films, such as Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, the long-in development Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, sequels to Black Panther and Captain Marvel, and films based on the Fantastic Four and mutants, are in the works.[3][4][5][6][7][8] After the panel, Feige confirmed that the projects announced before Blade were the full Phase Four slate at the time.[9] During the D23 2019, Feige and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler revealed that Black Panther II will be released on May 6, 2022.[10] In November 1, 2019, it was reported that a third Ant-Man film is in development, with Peyton Reed set to direct the film, and a potential release date for 2022.[11][12]
