Mary Beth Sales (born May 11, 1984) is an American public relations expert, image expert, media commentator and mentor. Sales is the Director of Marketing of the NPSL's Los Angeles United FC.[1]

Sales was featured on Entertainment Tonight as a public relations expert commenting on Robert Pattinson's decision not to hire a publicist after his breakup with Kristen Stewart.[2][3][4] She was quoted in AARP as an image expert regarding image and job employment.[5][6] In response to Ryan Lochte's false robbery report during the 2016 Summer Olympics, Sales gave expert commentary to Money (magazine) by Time Inc. regarding how professional athletes can move forward with image rehabilitation after making poor decisions.[7] Currently, Sales speaks as a PR Expert at academic institutions, such as the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Southern California, among others.[8][9]

Early life[edit]

Born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Cottleville in St. Charles, Missouri, Sales is the daughter of Arthur T. Sales and Carol Joy Cocjin Sales, both of whom are of Filipino descent and immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in the early 1970s. An alumna of Schools of the Sacred Heart, Sales graduated from Academy of the Sacred Heart, St. Charles in 1998 and Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School in 2002.[10] In 2005, she graduated from Saint Louis University, cum laude, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with an emphasis in rhetoric and linguistics and a minor in Spanish.

Career[edit]

Sales represented Timothy DeLaGhetto during his initial crossover from YouTube to mainstream media and played a role in garnering his first television audition for Nickelodeon.[11] Sales also has represented the New Boyz[12] during their debut album, RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship champion Tim Burke, NBA center JaVale McGee[13], NBA point guard Jordan Crawford, NFL wide receiver Dale Moss, and choreographer Saleemah E. Knight, among others. In 2014, Sales was head of public relations for NBA coach Mike Woodson's inaugural celebrity golf tournament, the Coach Woodson Las Vegas Invitational.[14][15] In 2016, Sales represented diver Greg Louganis during the 2016 ESPY Awards for his feature in ESPN The Magazine's The Body Issue and for his Pre-ESPY Awards breakfast celebration for being pictured on boxes of Wheaties cereal as part of a special "Legends" series by General Mills.[16][17] In 2009, Sales was named "Social Scenester" of the LA Style Council by 944 Magazine.

In July of 2018, Sales became the Director of Marketing of the NPSL's Los Angeles United FC.[18]

Community Involvement[edit]

Sales is a food pantry volunteer with Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles, California and supporter of the Bob Costas Cancer Center at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.[19][20]. Sales has volunteered with Beit T'Shuvah, a world-renowned Jewish addiction treatment center, and facilitates drug prevention programs for teens and adolescents.
