Master Chandan

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Master Chandan was a 14-year-old terminal cancer patient who was given the opportunity to operate a flight simulator of the Indian Air Force.

He was spotted by the Uday Foundation on the footpath outside All India Institute of Medical Sciences in the month of January 2013 during their annual blanket donation drive for the homeless.[1] The Foundation supported Master Chandan for his treatment for over two years and at last stage of life, Master Chandan expressed his wish to become an Indian Air Force Pilot to the foundation.[2] In November 2014, the foundation approached Indian Air Force and the wish of the boy was granted immediately [3]. He visited Indian Air Force base in Ambala Cantt where he was given near-real experience of flying a fighter aircraft when he got to fly the Jaguar Simulator wearing the India Air Force uniform.[4]

After 22 sessions of chemotherapy and with his last wish was fulfilled, Master Chandan died on February 4, 2014 celebrated as World Cancer Day. [5] [6] [7] In condolence message, Chief of Air Staff (India) chief marshal Arup Raha said that Indian Air Force was fortunate to be a part of his dream of Master Chandan and he inspired Indian Air Force with his deep desire to follow his dream [8].
