Mathieu Brisebois (born April 17, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with Nottingham Panthers of the UK's Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). Brisebois previously played for Gothiques d'Amiens of the French Ligue Magnus.

Playing career[edit]

Junior[edit]

Brisebois played four seasons (20092013) of major junior hockey in the QMJHL with the Lewiston MAINEiacs and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. While playing with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies during the 2012–13 season, Brisebois lead the QMJHL with the most goals (19), most assists (54), and most points (73) scored by a defenceman, and was named to the 2012–13 QMJHL Second All-Star Team.[1]

Professional[edit]

On March 6, 2013, the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League signed Brisebois to a three-year entry-level contract.[2]

During his first professional season, on March 4, 2014, the Coyotes traded Brisebois, along with David Rundblad, to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a 2nd round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.[3]

At the conclusion of his entry-level contract, Brisebois was not tendered a qualifying offer to remain with the Chicago Blackhawks. As a free agent, Brisebois opted to continue his professional career in France, agreeing to a one-year deal with Gothiques d'Amiens on July 9, 2016.[4]

On 29 June 2017, Brisebois signed a deal with UK EIHL side Nottingham Panthers.[5]
