Matthew Alan "Matt" Beat,[1] commonly known by his YouTube channel name Mr. Beat, is an American YouTuber, author, and social studies teacher. Beat's videos primarily cover American politics and history. Beat also maintains a secondary channel, The Beat Goes On, discussing musical topics, for instance Pink Floyd.[2]

Beat published a book based on his Presidential Elections in American History series, titled Mr. Beat presents...The Ultimate American Presidential Election Book: Every Presidential Election in American History (1788-2020), in July 2020.[3]

Personal life[edit]

Beat currently resides in Lawrence, Kansas, and has left his original teaching profession to pursue a YouTube career.[4] Prior to becoming a YouTuber, Beat taught various subjects from grades 7 to 12.[5] Beat petitioned in 2015 for former President Barack Obama to visit the school he teaches at,[6] but was not successful. Beat has a brother, Steven, with whom he maintains a third channel, Electric Needle Room.[7]
