Matteo Superbi (born 14 January 1969) is a retired Italian footballer, and a sporting director of Virtus Entella.

Playing career

A central midfielder, he started his career in Serie C club SPAL, later playing for other Serie C clubs before getting promoted to the Serie B with Cesena FC in 1998. He played in Serie B for more than 4 seasons between 1998 and 2003 and during this period he also had 13 matches in Serie A for Lecce in the 2001–02 season. Later on he returned to the third-tier club Lucchese and finished his career in 2007 in Centese Calcio.

Managerial career

After retiring from football, Matteo joined US Castelnuovo Garfagnana as their assistant coach, where he was assisting Massimo Barbuti, Bruno Russo, Attilio Lombardo and Luciano Ceccarelli during a single 2007–08 Serie C2 season, which the team finished in 15th place. After that he joined Virtus Entella, which was in the 5th tier at that time, as their sporting director, and since 2008 he has been working in this position.[1] During this time the team has climbed to Serie B three times, in 2014, 2018 and 2025.[2][3]
