Matthieu Charneau

Matthieu Charneau (born November 23, 1988)[citation needed] is a French actor and model.

Charneau started his modeling career in 2009, first discovered by a French photographer during a visit in Paris, France.[citation needed]

In 2011, he starred in Nicola Formichetti's short film Brothers Of Arcadia for fashion house Mugler. Directed by Branislav Jancik, the film was shot in New York City and broadcast at the opening of the Mugler show during the Paris Fashion Week.[citation needed]

In 2012, Charneau began training at European acting school Cours Florent.[citation needed] He then became a muse for French artists Pierre & Gilles and posed in three of their artworks titled : Johnny Guitar, Narcissus, and Ohé Matelot.[citation needed] After being featured in multiple publications — including the cover of British magazine Yearbook by Laurent Humbert[citation needed] and a portrait for Butt Magazine by Luis Venegas[citation needed] — Charneau was chosen as part of the jury for French Film Festival Chéries-Chéris, together with Spanish actress Rossy de Palma and French writer-screenwriter Philippe Besson.[citation needed]

In 2013, he was featured on the cover of French cultural and political magazine Les Inrockuptibles for their special issue Homophobie, c’est pas Bientôt Fini?!.[citation needed] Charneau also posed for fashion photographer Damon Baker.[citation needed] While training at Cours Florent, he landed the role of Samson in the Justin Wu short film Coup de Grâce[citation needed] – a contemporary adaptation of Delilah Myth from the Bible. The film was later officially selected for the San Jose International Film Festival 2013 in California,[citation needed] as well as for the ASVOFF Fashion Film Festival 2013 at the Georges Pompidou Center Art Museum in Paris, France.[citation needed] Later that year, he starred as a young Marine rifleman named "Marcel Labas" in the feature film Les Français du Jours J[citation needed] — a war film directed by Cédric Condon about the allied landing with Commando Kieffer on June 6, 1944.

In 2014, Charneau portrayed Freddie Mercury for Schön Magazine,[citation needed] after a couple of music video collaborations with the bands Gentle Republic and Hollydays.[citation needed] While in Los Angeles, California and New York City, he was photographed by Therese & Joel and featured in Out Magazine as one of the "OUT 100".[citation needed] He later played the lead role in I'm Cornered[citation needed] — a short film written and directed by Nicolas Goergen, screened at the Nikon Film Festival. The story is about a young man depressed after being aggressively questioned by his doctor after an HIV test. Charneau was also photographed in Barcelona, Spain by photographer Carlos Puig Padilla for the exhibit Vanities Vanitatum Omnia Vanitas at the N2 Gallery.[citation needed]

In 2015, he was featured in Arnaud fait son 2ème film directed by Arnaud Viard.[citation needed] The film was released in French theaters in April 2005.[citation needed]

Charneau also appeared as "Ventris' servant" in Kurt Sutter's drama The Bastard Executioner[citation needed] — alongside Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer, and Katey Sagal. The pilot episode was directed by Paris Barclay,[citation needed] President of the Directors Guild of America and director of 15 episodes of TV series Sons Of Anarchy.

In 2016, he played in the fiction film short Bad Bunny[citation needed] — directed by Carlos Conceição and produced by Primeira Idade. Filmed in Portugal, the movie was released in 2017.[citation needed]
