Megan Deborah Dunn (born December 21, 1975) is an American politician and community organizer belonging to the Democratic Party. She was elected in 2019 to represent District 2 on the Snohomish County Council, which includes Everett, Mukilteo, and the Tulalip Indian Reservation.[1] She succeeded Brian Sullivan, who was term-limited.[2]

In the 2019 primary election for Snohomish County Council District 2, Dunn competed with seven other candidates, six Democrats and one Republican.[3] Dunn received the most votes among the Democratic candidates and advanced to the general election where she faced Republican Anna Rohrbough of the Mukilteo City Council. On November 5, 2019, Dunn defeated Rohrbough by a margin of 55% to 45%.[4]

Prior to running for the county council, Dunn worked for the SEIU and as a program director for the Northwest Center for Alternatives to Pesticides.[5] As a program director, Dunn worked with schools, low income communities and local growers on pesticide abatement policies.

She was also a leader on the Everett Districts Now! campaign, which reorganized the Everett City Council into a district-based system instead of at-large seats.[6] Dunn also continues to serve as a Democratic Precinct Committee Officer and as an alternate member of the Everett Planning Commission.

Dunn gained some media attention after sharing on her personal Facebook profile an image of an viral embroidery project that originated from Reddit.[7] The cross stitch depicted a Molotov cocktail with a well-known quote often misattributed to Mahatma Gandhi,[8] “be the light you want to see in the world”. Dunn explained the post saying it was a “reminder to continue to strive for systemic reforms”[9] in policing as a part of a larger effort to reform the criminal justice system.
