Metrobus routes 430 & 435 are a pair of local bus routes in Surrey, England. The routes run between Merstham and Reigate via Redhill. The service is operated by Metrobus. The two routes form a loop, 430 runs clockwise and 435 anti-clockwise.[1]
History
The routes were introduced on 21st April 2001 by a partnership between Metrobus and Surrey County Council using Dennis Dart SLF buses. Initial frequencies were every 30mins Monday to Saturday daytimes and hourly in the evenings and all day on Sundays. The routes were operated from Godstone depot until 18th May 2002, when operations moved to the current depot of Crawley.[2]
In January 2003 additional short journeys were introduced on an hourly frequency, during the evenings and all day on Sundays, between Redhill and Merstham. However these were withdrawn by January 2004.[2]
In September 2009 the routes were rerouted to serve the then new Watercolour estate in South Merstham.[2]
In August 2010 the Whitebushes estate near East Surrey Hospital was added to the route. In May 2011 the estate was only served by alternate buses and in May 2013 the routes only served the estate in the evenings and on Sundays.[2]
In 2025 the routes started to be operated by new single deck Wrightbus hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.[3][4] Surrey County Council invested £16m in partnership with Metrobus to secure 34 hydrogen buses. These buses also operate on routes 100 (single decker), 420, 460 & 480 (double decker)[5]
