Michael Hicks Thompson is an award-winning author of Christian mysteries and short stories. He has won numerous literary awards and his writings have been featured in magazines and periodicals.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Early Years[edit | edit source]

Michael Hicks Thompson was born in his mother’s bed on a farm in Yazoo County, Mississippi and grew up in a small town with a population of 310 people.

Growing up, Michael was influenced by strong Christian women, alcoholic men and his faith in Jesus Christ.[1]

Education and Career[edit | edit source]

Michael earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi “Ole Miss”, followed by a Master of Communication from the University of South Carolina.

Michael started a one-man ad agency in Memphis. It grew to 87 employees in two cities, winning numerous national and international creative awards.

Michael sold his firm in 2011 and turned his attention to full-time Christian fiction writing.

His Novel the Rector is currently being developed into a Hitchcock style feature film by Red Thread Pictures.[2]

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Michael Hicks Thompson lives in Memphis, TN with his wife of 46 years, Tempe Adams Thompson. He has three sons and four grandchildren; the youngest ones call him “Big Mike.”

Michael’s faith plays an important role in his life and writings:

  • He has worked with Kairos Prison Ministry [3]
  • He has been a member of Independent Presbyterian Church for over 30 years [4]
  • Has participated in two mission trips to Cuba where he evangelized door-to-door
