Mithal Jiskani (Sindhi: مٺل جسڪاڻي) is a teacher of Plant Pathology, researcher with reference to identification and management of plant diseases and cultivation of mushrooms. He is working as Assistant professor at Sindh Agriculture University www.sau.edu.pk Tando Jam.[1] He was born on 15 January 1961 at Village Tanwor Khan Jiskani, Deh Pasahiki near Tando Jam, district Hyderabad, Sindh.[2]

He got his primary education from Government Primary School, Sindh Agriculture University Colony Tando Jam during year 1971, Matriculation from Government High School Tando Jam Farm in 1976, Bachelor of Science in Plant pathology from Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam in year 1981-82, Master of Science in same field from same university in year 1987. He wrote his MSc thesis after completion of his research work on “Artificial Cultivation of Mushrooms”.[3] His research work and thesis on this topic was counted first of its nature in the Sindh.[4]
Professional career[edit]
Mithal Jiskani was appointed as Research officer at Mushroom Project, at Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam. Later on, in 1989 he was shifted to Agriculture Research Wing, Government of Sindh as Assistant Plant Pathologist. In 1994, he appeared in competitive examination held by Sindh Public Service Commission and was selected as Assistant Research Officer. Presently he is working as Assistant professor Plant Pathology at Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam since 1996. Besides his profession Mr. Mithal Jiskani has worked as editor, assistant managing editor in different research journals of agriculture line. He is lifetime member of Pakistan Phytopathological Society.[5] Government of Punjab, Pakistan has nominated him as expert of T.W.G in the year 2009.[6]

He is author of more than 70 research papers on different aspects of plant pathology and are published in peer reviewed Research journals of international repute. He has presented more than 20 research publications in national and international conferences and symposia.[7] He is also author of more than 20 books, booklets and brochures on plant pathology and other agricultural aspects.[8][9][10][11][12][13]
Literary career[edit]
Mithal Jiskani is regular article writer of the Sindhi, Urdu and English newspapers and magazines. He writes poetry and prose and also introduced new trends in Sindhi literature. He has written his travelogue title as "Safar Bakher" (Sindhi: سفر بخير).[14]
