MobME (Mobile Media & Entertainment) is an Indian information technology company headquartered in Kochi. The company provides analytics and digital banking solutions[buzzword] for mobile phone users and network operators.

History and initiatives

Initial capital to launch the business came from selling mobile SIM Cards and recharge coupons to college students.[1] In 2005, the company was registered under the name Torque. It was the first student initiative to be incubated in Technopark, Trivandrum. Later, the company was renamed to MobME.

In January 2012, MobME tied up with The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), The Department of Science and Technology and Technopark, Trivandrum to set up India's first Public–private partnership telecom Business incubator named 'Startup Village' at Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation Park in Kalamassery.[2] This 'Startup Village' is modelled on Technology Incubators in Silicon Valley, United States and will focus mainly on student startups from college campuses.

Products and services

MobME owns Geckolyst,[3] an analytics tool that analyzes customer sentiments and user opinions from unstructured text-based data. Chillr[4] is a multi-bank instant mobile payment application for easy money transfers without the use of beneficiaries or OTPs. Digital Banking Labs provides end-to-end service support to banks and financial institutions from design to development of digital banking applications. SV.CO[5] is a public-private partnership incubator based in Kochi helping student founders build their startups right in schools and colleges. FastAlerts[6] is an enterprise specific SMS bulk service, which allows users to select a group of targeted users using the hierarchy tree to send alerts/news or any other information via sms/email.

Telecom- MobME operates under three product and service lines namely Network Solutions[buzzword], Value Added Services and Enterprise Solutions[buzzword]. MobME serves telecom operators by powering and managing SMSC, USSD, IVR and Outbound Dialler (OBD) services. MobME also undertakes various Mobile Governance initiatives in India.[7] MobMe has tied up with Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) to develop a platform which can be used for various m-governance initiatives.[8]
