Aman Sharma, (born 22 May, 1990), known by his stage name Moksha Amman, is an Indian rapper, lyricist, record producer, editor, and Actor. He began his career with appearances in several television series in 2012 and made his debut as a rapper in 2018. He owns a record label and production house called Magical Reels Productions.
Early life and family[edit]
Amman was born in Delhi to a Brahmin family. He brought up in Dilshad Garden located in East Delhi, neighbourhood of Delhi.
He received his school education from Shaheed Mangal Pandey, Vivek Vihar, Delhi. Amman was a National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet during his school days. He graduated with a Bachelor of Tourism Studies from IGNOU and also studied multimedia from the Asian Academy of Film & Television during his graduation.
Amman began his journey in theatre during 10th grade and went on to study acting at the renowned National School of Drama, specializing in Theatre-in-Education Company (T.I.E) also known as "Sanskaar Rang Toli." In the following years, he had the opportunity to work closely with NSD's esteemed professors, directors, and successful alumni, honing his skills and knowledge in the field of theatre.
Acting & Direction[edit]
Amman worked in numerous plays in Delhi before moving to Mumbai in December 2011. He appeared in UNICEF's malnutrition television commercial alongside Aamir Khan and also appeared in TV serials like Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, The Buddy Project, and Chidiya Ghar.[1] He directed various documentaries, travel documentaries, and music videos under his own banner, Magical Reels Productions, and also acted in them. Amman also performed at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games held in 2010 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, India.
Music Career[edit]
Initially, he entered the music industry as "Jordan Khalifa," but eventually adopted the name "Moksha Amman" during his career. According to the artist, he no longer felt a connection with the former identity.
Amman faced challenges while trying to establish himself as an actor in Mumbai. In addition to his acting endeavors, he explored opportunities as an assistant director, drawing upon his previous education. Juggling both roles, he pursued his passion for acting while also gaining experience in the field of direction.
Furthermore, in 2014, Amman's creativity and other undisclosed aspects, which were not revealed by the artist, led him to start writing songs. Four years later, in 2018, he proudly unveiled his debut track, "Gym Wali Bandi (Gym Chick)."
Continuing his musical journey, he released a soul-stirring song, "Dil Tod Ke (Breaking Heart)," which is said to have been deeply influenced by the life of the rapper.
After "Dil Tod Ke (Breaking Heart)," he ventured into crafting the enchanting song "Le Gayi (Took Away)," a melodious exploration of the theme of love. Song eloquently captures love's euphoria, passion, and multifaceted emotions, celebrating the blissful journey of falling in love.
In his fourth release, Moksha Amman presents "Phone Uthale Baby," a genre-blending track that combines Pop, Hip-Hop/Rap, and Trap. The song narrates the story of an astronaut navigating the infinite universe, struggling with the lack of signal to communicate. Determined to talk to his girlfriend, he leaves his spaceship and embarks on a journey back to Earth. The song's synthwave, trippy, and pop art elements add a captivating and futuristic vibe to the narrative.
"Ram Ram Ram," Moksha Amman’s fifth release, blends a unique fusion of Trap, Devotional & Spiritual, Reggae, and Experimental Music, crafting a hypnotic soundscape that mirrors the mystical journey of its protagonist. The narrative follows a devotee of Lord Shri Ram as he enters a deep meditative state, transcending time and space, experiencing parallel worlds, and gaining mystical insights before beholding the divine vision of Lord Shri Ram. This song showcases Amman’s venture into spiritually themed music while maintaining his experimental style and genre-defying compositions.
