Movchan's Group is a privately held investment management company, founded by Andrey Movchan in 2015. It manages a family of global investment funds and individual accounts, primarily for high-net-worth individuals with a conservative risk profile. The company is registered in Astana, Kazakhstan, with offices in the UK (London), Cyprus (Nicosia), Cayman Islands (George Town), and Montenegro (Podgorica).
History
Movchan's Group was founded in 2015 by one of Russia's most well-known financial managers,[8] Andrey Movchan.[9][10][11] The group’s first fund, ARGO SP — focused on a basket of conservative instruments — was launched in 2016.
In January 2020, Bloomberg reported that Andrey Movchan's company had accumulated over 100 million USD.[12][13][14]
In 2020, Movchan's Group launched the GEIST SP fund,[15] focused on stocks,[16] and began piloting the LAIF absolute return strategy. In the same year, the group obtained a license from the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA), the regulator of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), to conduct regulated activities in Kazakhstan. Following this, the company relocated its headquarters from Moscow to the AIFC premises in Nur-Sultan.[17][18]
2021 saw the launch of the LAIF SP fund, which trades weekly options on the Invesco QQQ Trust ETF, tracking the NASDAQ-100 index.[19]
In early 2022, the company planned to launch a fund investing in Uzbekistan but suspended the project.[20]
In April 2022, the company's Moscow office was closed, and some employees were relocated to Kazakhstan,[21] where additional hiring was announced.[22]
In 2023, the company launched the ARQ structured bond fund and entered into a partnership with the COSSACK fund, which specializes in high-yield debt instruments.
Business model
The company brings together investment managers and entrepreneurs with extensive experience in finance, who are focused on preserving capital and achieving returns that exceed long-term inflation rates. Its core activities include managing the assets of high-net-worth individuals, providing wealth management consulting, and offering independent investment portfolio assessments.[23][24][25]
