Awelani Elijah Mugeni, (born January 01, 1994), known professionally as Mugeni Elijah[1][2], is a South African singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer. Elijah's music is mostly influenced by personal experiences from his childhood, background, and all of life's teachings. He is well-known for his multi-tonal singing and metaphorical lyrics. His career began in 2010, at the age of 16 when he was recording his music in mixtapes from Superlight Studio around the neighborhood [3] . Since the beginning of his career, he has been referred to as the ''general'' of his generation and the finest musical genius. American artists such as Drake[4], Jhene Aiko[5], Victoria Monet [6] and The Weeknd[7], according to Mugeni Elijah, are some of the acts who genuinely inspired him and continue to inspire him.

Early life[edit]

Mugeni Elijah is originally from Mangondi, Thohoyandou[8], South Africa[9], but he also visits Randburg, Johannesbug on occasion since this is his second home. Mugeni Elijah began exhibiting interest in the music industry at the age of 16 when he recognized his enthusiasm for everything musical. Elijah spent much of his time learning about life and coming up with new ideas for his songs and albums. His passion for music inspired him to pursue his job full-time, and he is doing extremely well in the music industry. Hip Hop, Trap Music, Rhythms & Blues, Soul and Rap are genuinely the genres he remains focused on. Although he has been in the industry for a long, Mugeni Elijah has the most identifiable vocal, which is always regarded as suitable for collaborations by many artists.

Education[edit]

Mugeni Elijah, while in his childhood, attended Manzemba Primary School in Limpopo. He attended from grade A to grade seven. His mother moved him to Mangondi[10] after he finished seventh grade so he could begin the high school studies at Gole Secondary School. Elijah matriculated in 2015. After matric, Mugeni Elijah managed to pursue his studies by attending online lectures at the Open University while at home, despite the fact that he never had the opportunity to attend college owing to a variety of factors involving the family into which he was born. He researched till he improved his Digital Marketing[11] grades. Elijah feels that schooling influenced his overall independent thinking.

Career[edit]

Mugeni Elijah's major success came with the publication of his debut studio album, "Up stirs[12]," which received over 1,000,000 views on streaming platforms in general. The album performed far better than most of the tracks he had previously released. Despite the fact that he began playing music in his adolescence. Mugeni Elijah was influenced by dancing and singing along to the music of most of the singers that had come before him in the profession. During his adolescence, and because of his abilities, he developed a strong interest in music. While he was only a music fan, he joined forces with three other young brothers to establish the crew he named ‘’the Em Street gang''.The crew began as a group of three and later on three other musical artists joined the crew and it became the big dominant musical circle that everyone started recognizing them. The sextet earned some success in many regions around Limpopo[13].

According to the public, Elijah has the most Hot hits than many other artists involved in the same modern alternave Hip Hop genre as him. Elijah's debut album, upstirs[17][18] was released on December 29, 2021; the album pulled out a banger track which became one of the most listened to on Spotify, while charting into the top 100 on the several other music markets. The album's lead single, "The Old Me!" featuring Richard Blake, peaked at number two on the Reverbnation hip hop[19] & Indiesound Hot 100 chart.

Elijah released his single CINDIE[20][21] on February 11, 2022; which became his first single to reach the broader audience in the music markets.

Elijah released his second album, Behind tha sin[22][23][24] on August 1, 2022. It followed in the steps of its predecessor, reaching even the worldwide recognition for Mugeni Elijah.

Elijah's EP , Ni Songo Nthithisa[25][26]–translated ''don't disrupt me'' was released on December 26, 2022.
