Mukhyamantri Bhasa Brutti Purashkar is a scholarship scheme launched by Government of Odisha to encourage students of Odisha in learning Odiya language,culture & promoting value of local language,[1] offering better education to students so they are inspire to learn and develop skills and proficiency with the state language[1].The scholarship consist Cash reward of Rs 5000/- per student for excellence in Odiya language in 10th board,ten students from every block will be eligible for this award.[2] ,Under this scheme in (2017-18) board exams 3549 meritorious students received the scholarship[3]. Implementing the scheme State Government focusing on the development of culture,music and social service of the state[1][4]

Eligibility:

  • The student should be legal resident of odisha[1]
  • Should appearing 10th board.[1]
  • Should have performed excellence result in odiya.[1]

Overview[edit]

The programme was launched by Chief minister of Odisha and implemented by School & Mass Education Department of the state. Odia language is the native language of odisha,It is the first language from Indo-Aryan linguistic group[5], Odiya is the sixth indian language to be designed a Classical language of India for its "high antiquity of its early texts/recorded history over a period of 1500-2000 years".[6][7],.As per 2011 census in india 37,521,324 speaks odia i.e 3.10% of total population. Where as the percentage was 3.21 in 2001 to balance the declination the state government has taken initiatives to uphold the Odisha's rich art and culture.[8]
