Mukhyamantri Medhabruti Puraskar is a scholarship programme to give financial assistance to students of the state who will appear board exams and sholarship to those who have passed 10th standard including reward to high ranking students that would enchance the merit of the state[1].The government shall give amount of Rs 5000/- per students and it shal be given to 40,000 students across the state appearing 10th board.The schem focus on both academic & extracurricular activities of students.it would encourage students for higher studies.[2][3]
Eligibility Criteria[edit]
- The student should be legal resident of odisha.[4]
- Student most pursuing 10th board.[4]
- Should not receiving any scholarship from central government or in any other agency.[4]
- The total income of the household shouldn't exceed Rs 6 lakhs.[4]
- The student should not receiving any other scholarship from state,central government or from any other agency.[4]
- One student can register only once.[4]
- Girls and boys need to secure 60% and 70% respectively in the 10th board to get benefit.[4]
Overview[edit]
The programme was launched by Chief minister of Odisha on 14th nov 2017 and implemented by School & Mass Education Department of the state .According to census the literacy rate of Odisha is 63.09% and 72.8% in 2001 & 2011 respectively,[5].In the year (2017-18) a total of 590,363 candidates appeared for 10th board, The performance of Odisha in 10th board (2017-18) was 4.28 lakhs students i.e 76.23% pass result , 2.22 and 2.16 lakhs girl and boys secured pass marks, [6] untill now 35,490 students have received the Mukhyamantri Medhabruti.[7][8][9]
