Muzammil Desai Was born in a middle class family. Raised with seven other siblings in a village called Vadgaon in Belgaum, Karnataka. His father dies just two months before he was born. He pursued secondary education from Islamia High School camp. In April 2001 Muzammil Desai came to Mumbai and stayed at sister's place. He was given an option to select any of the category (Make-up, Direction, Production etc.) in film industry for his living, for his good fortune he decided to go into direction team, he joined as 7th AD to Shyam Maheshwari for the show "Kuchh Jhuki Palkain" for Sony Channel.
Continuing the work with enthusiastic dedication within 6 months he got promoted to Chief Assistant Director. Moving into the same phase he joined Deepak Chavan and assisted him for 6 years for the shows like 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii', 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay'[1], 'Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai', 'Kaahin Kissii Roz' for Balaji Telefilms. Continuing the work in same field gave him an opportunity to work as a 2nd Director for the show 'Kkusum".
In 2007, he worked with Pakistan Based production as Director, which produced shows in Dubai which basically gained trust in the eyes of Balaji Telefilms resulting in the offer to direct a show named 'Khwaish', which got aired in Dubai, Pakistan and India. After this show Muzammil Desai has seen no declination in career path and jumped to various shows like 'Kahe Na Kahe', Kasturi', 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki' etc.
In 2008, he married his long time girlfriend Shainaz, whom he dated for 8 years. in 2010, he was offered 'Pavitra Rishta' which is basically inclined his career path to different heights. He also got an opportunity to be one of the crucial part in the film 'Azhar'. Working with Balaji Telefilms for more than a decade gave him an opportunity to work as main stream director for more than 25 shows that even includes web-series.
Currently he is working in the show 'Parineetii' on Colours TV since February 2022.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
