Outside of YouTube, Luc starred in the film Sucker (2015). He also co-wrote the television series Mychonny: The Chinaboy Show.

Luc was born in Australia to a Chinese mother and a Vietnamese father, who both emigrated from Vietnam during the Vietnam War.[1][2] He resides in Melbourne, Australia.[1] On his podcast, Luc stated that as a teenager, he was bullied at school for his Asian background.[3]
Career[edit]
At age 17,[4] Luc began posting online comedy sketches on YouTube under the username Mychonny, which consisted of slapstick humor that satirized Asian stereotypes in Western culture.[5] Mychonny gained over 1 million subscribers throughout its years online.[5]
In 2014, Luc was cast in the film Sucker in its starring role as Lawrence Leung.[1][6][7] In 2015, Luc also produced the web series Mychonny Moves In, which he posted on YouTube, and played the roles of all main characters.[8] The series was entered in the 2015 Melbourne Webfest.[8] The popularity of Mychonny Moves In led to Luc co-writing Mychonny: The Chinaboy Show with comedy writer Tien Tran in 2018, which was broadcast for seven episodes on ABC Comedy.[5]
Aside from his comedy career, from 2016 to 2017, Luc hosted the MyChonny podcast on SBS PopAsia.[9][3] Luc runs the YouTube vlog channel Chonnyday with his girlfriend, Dalena.[10]
