NGC 5 is an elliptical galaxy in the constellation of Andromeda. This galaxy has a generic redshift estimated to be 217 million light years from Earth. It was discovered by French astronomer Edouard Stephan, using a reflecting telescope 80 cm (31.5 in) at the Marseille Observatory on 21 October 1881.[3][4][5][6]
