Namadhu Amma is an Indian Tamil language newspaper published in Tamil Nadu, India. The paper was launched on 24 February 2018 by Edappadi K. Palaniswami and O. Panneerselvam, then Co-ordinators of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, political party in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.[1]

History[edit]

After the death of Jayalalithaa, Namadhu MGR which was founded on 11 July 1988 and previously known as the mouth piece of AIADMK went under the control of V. K. Sasikala and T. T. V. Dhinakaran.[2][3] Hence, AIADMK launched Namadhu Amma as its new mouthpiece to counter DMK's Murasoli marking 70th Birth anniversary of late AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa on 24 February 2018.[1][4] R. Chandrasekar became the publisher of the newspaper.[5][6]

Amid Unitary leadership crisis in the AIADMK , O. Panneerselvam was removed as the founder of the Namadhu Amma Newspaper.[7][8] Since its foundation, Marudhu Alaguraj has been the chief editor of the newspaper from 2018 to 2022. He quit as the chief editor of the newspaper in protest against the Unitary leadership on 29 June 2022.[3][9]

On 6 August 2022, S. Kalyana Sundaram became the chief editor of the Namadhu Amma Newspaper.[10]
