Naoya Inoue vs Nonito Donaire 2, billed as Drama in Saitama is an upcoming professional boxing bantamweight unification bout between WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue, and WBC bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire. The fight will take place on June 7th, 2022 in Japan.[1]

Background[edit]

In 2019, three division world champion Naoya Inoue and four division world champion Nonito Donaire clashed in a bantamweight unification bout in the finals of the 2018-19 World Boxing Super Series. In a fight lauded as a "modern-day classic"[2], Inoue overcame a fractured left orbital and a broken nose[3] to defeat the Filipino legend by unanimous decision with scores of with scores of 116–111, 117–109 and 114–113. Inoue dropped Donaire in the 11th round with a monstrous body shot en route to hard fought win. The fight was later named The Ring magazine Fight of the Year for 2019.
