Nasser Ahmed (born 29 March 1961) is a Nigerian professional lawyer, a businessman[1] and a real estate developer.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Nasser Abubakar Ahmed was born and raised in Kano, Kano State. He had his primary education at Gable Primary School. He proceeded to the Federal Government College in Kano for Senior Secondary School Certificate SSCE.[2] He thereafter gained admission to Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria where he studied law and graduated in 1892. Upon graduation, he went to the Nigerian Law School and was called to the bar in 1983. He was awarded a Master's Degree in International Law and Diploma in Lagos.

Professional career[edit]

Ahmed started his law career with a legal firm, J. B. Magajiyagbe & Co., from 1983 to 1988. Between January 1989 to September 1992, he was the technical legal advisor to the Technical Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation (TCPC) of the Presidency before moving to the National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria as the deputy corporation secretary and later retired as the general manager in 2005.

He is a real estate developer and the chairman of the Protea Hotels, Central Hotels and Protea Apo Apartments now BON Hotels Apo, Abuja. He was also a director at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja for 13 years.[1]

Recognition[edit]

On September 11, 2018, Ahmed was appointed by the Emir of Lokoja, Muhammadu Kabir III, with the title of Dan Darman Lokoja.[3][4][5] The Emir also stated that “Nasser, the new Dan Darman has made significant contributions to the economic and social development of the country in various fields where his contribution is needed”.[3]
