National Adaptation Plan Global Network

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Global Network aims to enhance national adaptation planning and action in developing countries preparing for the impacts of climate change.

The NAP Global Network was launched in 2014 by adaptation policymakers and practitioners from 11 developing and developed countries, aiming to support the NAP process through sustained dialogue and coordination in order to leverage and learn from each other’s approaches, experiences, and programs.[1][2] It has since expanded to include participants from over 30 countries.[3] Initial financial support for the Network has been provided by Germany and the United States, and its secretariat is hosted by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).[4][5]

Activities

The network works to achieve its goal through three main activities:

  • Facilitating sustained peer learning and exchange on the challenges and opportunities associated with national adaptation planning and implementation.
  • Improving effectiveness of adaptation-relevant bilateral support with developing countries involved to provide their perspectives on whether the support aligns with their priorities.
  • Supporting national level action on NAP development and implementation.[6]

Technical Assistance

Through its Country Support Hub, the NAP Global Network provides expert advice and targeted technical assistance for national adaptation planning and implementation to its participants.
