Benjay Olanzo Rodriquez (born May 5, 2004), known professionally as Nationalmusiq, is an Canadian rapper and dancehall artist. He rose The attention of music lovers in late 2018 with the release of his single "Ice Cold". He was The first Artist To Hit Number 1 On JJW Charts in 2020 ^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]

Biography[edit]

As a student, Nationalmusiq started writing verses. He decided that he would perform under the moniker "National," a name forged through thinking about Respect. He grew up listening to dancehall , Rapper and pop stars such as Vybz Kartel,^[5] , Mavado ^[6] and Lil Wayne ^[7], Lil Baby , Lil Moesy [1], Shawn Mendes , Justin Bieber , NF , 42 Dugg [2], Sabrina Carpenter ^[8] , Selena Gomez and he was heavily influenced by Lil Baby , Jahvillani and Lil Moesy, and also a book The 48 Laws of Power. National decided to pursue a career in music right after Primary school which was in 2013, and started voicing on tracks around 2013. His first songs, "Ice Cold" was released in 2013. It was produced by Grimy Records, a Glen record label. National best known for his hits "Richplan ^[9] "Richbadness,^[10]" "YoungLards,^[11]" "Fi Me Gyal Dem ^[12]," and "Jim Jones ^[13]". National is expected to release his first EP, Know Better Ep ^[14] this year. The first single from the EP, Richbadness" featuring Emojikrayon, premiered on Complex in April 2020.
